About the Creator
Lisa Marie Ludwig is an exhibiting interdisciplinary artist. She incorporates found objects, reclaimed and recycled materials, collage, painting, video, light, and sound to produce installations that operate within the traditions of Installation and Participatory Art. Using found materials like cardboard boxes, magazine clippings, and recycled materials, her work explores the symbolic and aesthetic power of objects by transforming everyday detritus into art. The themes that she works with are relevant to every person living in a contemporary urban environment. Ludwig grew up in a coastal community in South-Eastern North Carolina, where folk and outsider art was a living tradition. As a New Yorker, she considers the city surroundings in her artwork. Lisa includes her process in her work, allowing a project to take on a life of its own. In her work, she strives to connect humankind to human kindness. She is making art, that in the end, teaches us about ourselves.
