This ridiculous and soon-to-be-immortal tale was written for the above-average child in all of us by a parent who was tired of books talking down to his kid. The story follows a resourceful, curious, and foolish character who overcomes obstacles and failure as he fights through the stages of learning in pursuit of a lofty goal. Along the way, he demonstrates persistence and resilience, and the true cost of brilliance. The destination isn't what he imagined, but destinations so rarely are. (Besides, I had to set up the sequel.)
