About the Creator
Born in New York City in 1946, Nick Levitin was drawn to photography as a young boy, but started his career as an actor. He received a BFA from Boston University’s School of Fine and Applied Arts. Deeply affected by the plays and performances he saw in his youth, he wanted his work to have a similar impact. After working for several years in regional theater and in New York City, he studied commercial photography at the Germain School of Photography. Shortly after he began a business taking headshots for actors. This led to theatrical production photography, portfolios for “real people” type models, and corporate portraiture. Eventually, his work led him to documentary photography and videography. For decades, however, his primary work was as a portrait photographer in the greater New York City area. During the past several years he has shifted his focus to fine art & documentary photography all in black and white. His work has been described as “evocative, soulful, and intimate."
