About the Creator
Mercedes Nuñez, Cuban visual artist, her body of work is in painting, mixed media, collage works-on-paper, photography, and artist books. Nuñez studied Art and Architecture at Pratt Institute and has a MFA from the University of Miami. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in the permanent collection of Bridgewater State University and in private collections throughout the U.S. Nuñez is an artist member at IFA: Imago Gallery of Art and Fine Craft, Warren, RI. Currently, Nuñez’s has begun the preliminary work on two separate artist book projects: 40 School Street—a memoir 1987--2017 An artist book of photography and anecdotal essays on the harsh often bizarre realities of being a Latina artist and professor in a New England college. ELSEWHERE Is But A Memory An artist book of stories about the zany, eclectic –often times dysfunctional family; Jacomino--the town in the Province of Habana where she was born and raised and life in the U.S.
