About the Book
How does one create interesting photographs, whether at home or
abroad? The answer, says Robert A. Parker, begins in your head, and especially in your eyes. For after learning the rules of fine art photography, you must see the piece of the image in front of you that adheres to those rules.
In The Art of Seeing, author Parker presents more than 120 images, broken down under seven categories: Reflections, Architecture, Nature, Portraits, Motion, Patterns, and Vistas. He describes where he took each photograph, why he took it, how he achieved it, and the rules he followed, or broke, to achieve it.
Travel with him from from Rockport to La Jolla, from Venice to Caracas. See how he approaches the challenge of available light, motion, and depth of field. Here is how he narrows his vision until he finds a center of interest, leading lines, and complementary colors and shapes that achieve an artistic balance.
