About the Book
I began photographing Italy in 2006 during the time Marist College was establishing a Bachelors degree in art at the Lorenzo de’Medici center in Florence. When I had free time I would wander the city and photograph whatever I thought was interesting. Of course, being new to Italy, everything was interesting. Even the simplest things felt different—the light, the way in which a doorway would
intersect with a wall, the exterior electrical work mixing with centuries old surfaces and the way in which streets would lead my eye to new and more intimate interactions of the old and the new.
