About the Book
In this photo book I have conveyed the atmosphere and character of a building that has had a rich history of performance, worship and charity. Designed by renowned local architects Bradshaw, Gass and Hope, the halls opened on 13th March 1900 and have held Penny concerts and silent films, hosted a multitude of lectures, graduation ceremonies, musical events and amateur dramatics. Bolton's Fire Wardens were also posted here during both World Wars. However, in contrast to the hive of activity these hall continue to be, this book details the silence in between, behind closed doors.
