Neville Goodman (seen in the photo with wife Sally on top of Beinn Dearg in Torridon, Scotland) went to Manchester Grammar School and then read Natural Sciences at Magdalen College, Oxford. He did physiological research before completing his medical training, also in Oxford. An anaesthetist in Oxford and subsequently Bristol, he retired aged 60 in 2007 so that he could sort out his 15000 35mm colour slides.
