In late November 2013, a series of small-scale demonstrations broke out in Ukraine, most notably on the Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, calling for further integration with the EU. Following a violent backlash from the government, the situation escalated into widespread protests against the establishment itself, culminating in President Yanukovych fleeing the country in late February. In the midst of the crisis, the process of making visual art became commonplace, as protestors turned to art for its therapeutic values, it's ability to stir emotion within the viewer and as a medium of raising awareness. Where words could not do justice, the emotion of the Revolution of Dignity was captured in art.
