About the Book
Gristle and Gravy represents a few of the wonderful faces and amazing places photographed by Kurt Kamka during the four years he lived in metro Manila, Philippines. During his time time there, he developed a great affinity for the people he met on his aimless, daily wanderings through the streets and barrios. A wonderful blend of up-close documentary, street and street portrait photos define his style. His personal discovery? While others in lands distant from the Philippines may have more material possessions, they often have less than those who want for more.

Manila, Philippines
After living in the US for his entire life, photographer Kurt Kamka relocated to Southeast Asia in November, 2011. As an outsider, his new surroundings provided him with the opportunity to use the medium of street photography and street portraits to document the sometimes small, but nevertheless significant moments that make up the day-to-day lives of others.
