About the Book
Sossusvlei is a perfect specimen of Namibia’s unspoiled desert beauty. The sand dunes in the Namib
are dynamic; known as "star dunes" due to the wind shaping them from all directions.
Desert Rhino Camp lies amongst the rolling, rocky hills of the 450,000-hectare Palmwag Concession.
This region is marked for its tranquil, minimalist beauty, surprising wealth of
arid-adapted wildlife and the largest free-roaming black rhino population in Africa.
The Himba are indigenous peoples with an estimated population of about 50,000, living in northern Namibia, in the Kunene region (formerly Kaokoland) and on the other side of the Kunene River in Angola.
In the heat, dust and stunning landscapes of Damaraland, there is a sanctuary – Mowani Mountain Camp. Dwarfed by massive ocher boulders, the camp is absorbed into the landscape,
making it one with our shared history of life in this prehistoric land.
The key to the Okonjima experience is The AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Namibia’s large carnivores. With the cheetah, leopard and lion as its flagship, the foundation works alongside the farming community to help alleviate the livestock losses caused by predators.
Victoria Falls presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River,
forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was described by the Kololo tribe living in the area
in the 1800’s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’.
Rising in the Angolan highlands and then twisting along geological fault lines as it winds its way to the Zambezi River, the Chobe River is flanked by riverine forests, floodplains and open woodlands.
Tucked away in a forest of green, on the banks of the world renowned Sand River, lies a special place.
Rattray’s on MalaMala offers an intimate glimpse of an era long lost, when travellers from afar married the magic of the African bush with elegance and refinement.

I've always been an avid traveller, born in the UK and now living in California - I go everywhere in the world I can, and now that I'm able, I bring as many friends as possible along. The joy in life is in the sharing and I want as much joy as possible so "come along and enjoy with me!" The aim with my website is that you may get a feel for all these places in the world, and while they won't always be good pictures -- I'm hopeful you can appreciate the country or area when you view my pictures. The books are a "by-product" of the traveling and are much better than photos stuck inside a forgotten memory card...
