About the Book
I made these intaglios many years ago 2001-04. To create this work I used a process called white ground that lets you treat a copper plate like a painting. The suite of intaglios in this show originally consisted of two books and a few singular images. The original book format had the prints placed loose-leaf in a portfolio with text placed separately as a viewing option. The text acted as a poetic frame work to structure the narrative flow. Over the years the prints got separated from the text and the project became disassociated. What I mean is that I literally lost the text portion, then found and lost it again. I like the idea of a lost story and its images operating in their own language. This work has a special energy to me and mystery. Even though I had a clear idea of how to execute this project, I didn’t always know what it meant. I am happy to present these prints again, as the disjointed and lost memories they were intended to be.
