Life is a timeline; overcoming whatever's thrown step by step. Twenty years down my own timeline the hurdles I am faced with seem to increase in size, despite those I've overcome. The realisation dawns that all humanity is heading in the same direction - forwards - one step at a time.

The concept of dreaming fascinates me, the subconscious constantly working through individual, diverse problems. Walking forwards in a dream state links to working through the complexity of life in a positive way, finding solutions, and carrying them into the future.

The photographs in this collection are of the street below my second floor window and were taken from my bed, scene of dreaming. The blank pavement reflects the idea of respecting whatever others may be going through - as we cannot know by observation.

I have taken inspiration from the film Peeping Tom and artists Walker Evans, Philip-Lorca diCorcia and Arne Svenson, who have paved the way for a boundary-pushing surveillance style of photography, and developed my own viewpoint.
