About the Book
The Wave is a sandstone rock formation located near the Arizona-Utah border, on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes, in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. It is famous among hikers and photographers for its colorful, undulating forms, and the rugged, trackless hike required to reach it.
The photographs in this book were taken on April 2, 2014. The author, made the 2.5 mile trek to the Wave on what turned out to be a beautiful day, following an overnight snowfall. The hike is not particularly demanding, the challenge is finding your way to the Wave. There is no marked trail and hikers rely on maps provided by the Bureau of Land Management or use GPS.

I got interested in photography when I retired in 2002. I felt I would need a hobby and the advent of digital photography kindled the interest. I've been working away at it since then, taking some courses, reading about it, taking advice from friends and doing a lot of experimentation. My principal interest is nature photography. I do a lot of landscapes and when I can, wildlife. As time progresses, my interest remains strong. The more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to learn. I enjoy the ongoing discovery and the challenge presented by the world of knowledge remaining to be learned.
