For the past few years, I have been actively documenting my life and the lives of those around me. Initially this work may appear to be subjective and intimate, however the works serves to speak to the personal as well as to the universal experience. Primarily my work focuses on the personal, the familiar, and the ordinary.
Upon hearing the news that plans have been put into place to sell my grandmother's house, I immediately began to dwell on the fear of losing my home. After much thought, I began to understand that home is not made up of just one isolated location, but instead it is made up of bits and pieces of surrounding places and people. In order to fully represent my definition of home, I too would have to represent the spaces that were inhabited, the relationships that were built, as well as the objects with which surrounded me there. In other words, the fear of this loss has compelled me to document the people, places, and things that define what home means for me. Overall, this work speaks towards the urge to hold on, even though transitions such as this are inevitable.
