About the Book
In 2002, a group of US Navy men based in the UK completed work on the construction of two memorials at Dartmoor Prison in England. They listed the names of Americans who died at the Dartmoor War Depot from 1813-1815. John Adams' name appears on the first memorial, under the inscription: "Dedicated to the memory of those who died at Dartmoor Prison during the War of 1812. You have not been forgotten."
This digital preservation project is a part of that history, and the history of the USS Constitution through its original author, John Adams, who died at a young age after a short life at sea in the service of his country.
