About the Book
A Wartime Log was written to document the journey of my grandfather, William Leslie Kell (1916-2016) throughout his time as an Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force and then a Prisoner of War in WWII. He remained a POW for 3 years after his aircraft was shot down in the North Sea and was taken to Stalag Luft 3 in Poland, the setting for the Great Escape, where he became a digger in the tunnels.
The reflection was written in his own words and brought to life through the use of photos, clips from his wartime journal and personal experiences.
