About the Book
Why are we so dependent on seeing someone's face to tell who they are? In this book I hope to show how sometimes you can learn a great deal about a person without ever seeing their face. Body language and environment can speak louder than any expression, though sometimes they take a backseat to the subject's attitude.
Some of these photographs are "faceless" by chance, others are posed. In some we get no chance to try and read faces, others we just barely miss expressions. We'll see performers at work, students on adventures, and normal people in the middle of everyday tasks, made mysterious by a lack of identity.
I challenge you to see how much information you can gather from each photograph, and also to be more aware of the many cues people (including you) send out every day. The way we dress, how we act, and what environments we create or place ourselves in are all factors that shape the image we compose.

Hello, my name is Katherine. Right now I'm minoring in Photography in college, but beyond that I haven't really had any professional training. I work with both film and digital photography, and I love to experiment with combining both mediums. I made my first photo books last year as final projects for my photography classes, and now I'm hooked! I don't have much time to work on books as I'd like, but I have a ton of ideas that I'd like to flesh out in the future.
