    About the Book

    Edit

'365' is a sculpture made up of 365 bas-relief sculptures, which were created during the course of 2011. This book provides a photographic record of all the individual sculptures, together with each blog entry that was placed online everyday of the year. These entries were usually the result of online searches for things which fitted the description of what Jonathan had seen, or were identifications by people on nature forums or his own expert friend.

All the sculpts were based on the nature which Jonathan came across during many walks and time spent in gardens, including his own.

After receiving comments on Facebook and his blog throughout the year as the piece was created, the finished sculpture didn't see the light of day until August 2012. A cast was completed, ready to be installed as part of a sculpture exhibition in the gardens of RHS Wisley.

    Jonathan Hateley
    England

Jonathan Hateley has sculpted most of his life. After completing a degree in graphic design in 1986, where he concentrated on illustration in both two and three dimensions, he moved to London. He began sculpting for the theatre, firstly on the 'Phantom of the Opera' production and then for four years at the English National Opera Company. This was followed by many years working to tight deadlines and sculpting just about anything for TV, theatre and film. At this stage he was also illustrating for publishers. Having been through so many of the commercial applications for sculpture, he went on to enjoy the freedom to sculpt what he wanted. He has gone on to exhibit widely and his work is collected internationally. He has a website showcasing all his work as well as a blog and Facebook page. www.jonathanhateley.com www.jonathanhateleysculpture.blogspot.co.uk
