About the Book
My project although placed within contemporary social documentary does not set out to highlight social injustice. My aim is to record how someone who was classed as ‘different’ on initial diagnoses, goes about the everyday and mundane in our life.
This personal document is a story that I have portrayed with photography. Dee, my sister is chromosomally male, however she looks, lives, feels and is female. Dee has always been an inspiration to me, dealing with a difficult condition, at such a young age, to become the self assured woman she is today.
To us her family and friends, the only odd thing about Dee is that she has a weird toe.
