When we launched StartUp Britain on 28th March 2011, we did so with a fierce sense of urgency and that sense still runs through the campaign today.
The UK faces a significant opportunity to make the most of the entrepreneurial enthusiasm and energy inherent in our people. Thousands of Mums, students, retirees and others want to become their own boss and start a business but are just not sure where to start. Many others are running an existing business and want to know how to grow. StartUp Britain is the campaign to encourage and support anyone wanting to start and grow a business.
We have achieved a lot in a short amount of time but there is much more to be done. In the next 12 months you will see the campaign in retail spaces, via local champions and at events across the nation. The website will become the destination for all things business start-up and growth as we shine a spotlight on the awards, resources, events and activity taking place for small business - and there’s a lot of it! You will also see the campaign representing the views of small business direct to government so policy change can help you prosper.
Please continue your support as the campaign evolves. It’s been an incredible journey and this book tells the story so far. We look forward to a next 12 months of working with you and for you to ensure the UK becomes the most enterprising place on earth!
