About the Book
Imagine, at some point in the future of planet earth, only a single monkey remains to witness the end of history. No living thing has survived to keep him company, he is profoundly alone. Loneliness can be a curse but there is something to be said for a ring-side seat at the final greatest show. In Monkey's mind lie the remnants of all the dreams of man, the spectacular achievement and the unfathomable folly. It is his fate (or probably just random chance) to watch the hands of the clock stop, the curtain descend. What will happen to Monkey when earth is extinguished from the universal script?
In truth, it is most unlikely that a Lion-tailed Monkey (or Lion-tailed Marquee as he is known) should outlive the rest of us. Counted as one of the most endangered species of primate, the destruction of its natural habitat in India is cited as the main cause for its demise. In the race for Darwinian survival the Marquee has fallen far behind. Will we feel a little lonelier when he has gone?
