About the Book
This is a publication serving as an original artist book of Henna-Riikka Halonen and was conceived and designed by the artist for her exhibition Some Potential Scenarios at Gymnasium Gallery, Berwick-Upon-Tweed in 2010. The aim of the exhibition Some Potential scenarios is to reveal and liberate the potential and multiple positions concerning the future. Different viewpoints and stories have been integral part of the working process, allowing a number of participants to become active collaborators in creation.
The book project began with a proposal to a group of three writers, inviting them to imagine a fictional scenario set in the future. Halonen provided keywords and images on which the writers could base their work. Tailored to specific formats, these texts present imagined scenarios, which comprise traces, fragments, and beginnings of stories. The works are: an imagined preview of the exhibition by art writer Rosalie Doubal; a futuristic script by artist-writer Anna Pickering and a fictional regeneration report by writer Wendy B Scott. These works propose a view of events yet to happen in the historical border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in the Northeast of England.
