About the Book
This work is a recent project that sprang from a solo camping trip I took in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in September 2009.
It was my first solo trip, one that I spent a long time building up the courage to take. Left utterly alone, I found myself fascinated not with the scenic beauty of the mountains, valleys and meadows surrounding me in the broader landscape, but rather with the home-away-from-home parcels within the campground that alluded very quietly to the transient human occupation of those woods. The ephemeral nature of the experience produced a sense of urgency and delight, which I hope to share with these images.
