About the Book
Touching Clouds’ is a book full of thoughts, happy accidents, and failed experiments. It gives an impression of Hilde Maassen’s quest for what is invisibly stored in a photograph at the moment it is taken. She investigates whether and how she can reveal that information, make it tangible or audible. It is not about ‘what’ is in the photo, but about ‘how’ image and sound emerge from the photo.
The subject is clouds. We cannot touch them, and therefore they remain elusive. This is an attempt to understand clouds better. Sometimes it seems as if the clouds themselves intervene in the process.
