About the Book
A history of the German toymaker Hess. The Hess company has built toy trains for 80 of the 107 years of its existence. During this time, a great wealth of collectible material was created, which contrasts with a very limited supply on the market, and the absence of the company's early catalogues. This book therefore aims above all to make the diversity of Hess's production understandable from its history.

I worked in Adult & Further Education in England for 40 years as a lecturer and college Principal, but retired in 2008. I originally trained as an artist and used photography as means of recording my work. I also collect tinplate model railways produced between 1900 to 1930 and in particular tinplate buildings. The books currently available through Blurb combine these two interests and enable me to share this with a wider audience.
