About the Creator
François Mennes was born in Belgium (Ekeren, Antwerp) in 1951. After attending high school he studied Photography for 2 years. Subsequently, he worked for a while in photoengraving and then for a publishing house laying out magazines. In 1976, he traveled to Formentera and never left. “From childhood on, the painter who fascinated me the most was Pieter Bruegel the Elder. And this fascination never left me but inspired me to take up painting myself. More advanced in life, I found a balance between working on construction with natural stones and artwork in form of painting and drawing which I keep enjoying very much up to the present.” François Mennes nació en Bélgica (Ekeren, Amberes) en 1951.
