About the Book
In 1991, photographer Nancy McGirr started a Project in which several children living in the Guatemala garbage dump photographed their own World. And so began the “Out of the Dump” photography Project. The little group has now grown to twenty-three children, and their work has been exhibited in London, Paris, Tokyo, Amsterdam, California, Alabama, and Guatemala, and the featured on television and radio and in newspaper and magazines around the World. The profits they now make from their photographs go toward their education. For these children, photography has become a door to the future. It is a door they have opened.
