About the Book
The Galapagos Island provide are a scientific and nature wonderland. Since Darwin’s voyage in 1835 the islands have served as a laboratory to study the effects of geographic isolation, geology, the confluence of major ocean currents from the warm waters of the Panamanian current, to the cold Antarctic Humboldt current to the nutrient rich equatorial upwelling and finally the influence of man.
This book delves into those factors through a photographic journey around the islands on the eastern side of the archipelago…retracing some of Darwin’s steps.
As we face the impacts of global climate change the Galápagos Islands will continue to serve as a laboratory to study the impact of those changes in an area that is being preserved for future generations and scientific study.
For me…as a geologist who has been in love with the ocean since childhood, this was truly a trip of a life time.
Enjoy and learn
