About the Book
Read the revealing history of the lost martyrs Joseph and Hyrum Smith, and the frantic search to find them before rising waters would leave them lost forever.
After the assassination of Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum by a mob in 1844, Joseph’s wife Emma buried them secretly under cover of night. Although some knew the general location of the resting place in Nauvoo, the exact spot was unknown and Emma took the secret to her grave.
There they stayed until 1928, when rising waters from the Mississippi River threatened to engulf the graves and forever deny the church founders a final memorial.
Still Side by Side tells the inspiring story of the search for the brothers and the people who raced against time to give them back their place of remembrance.
