Alan has been photographing on the streets of Melbourne since the 1970's. Alan has broad photographic interest and shoots mainly candid shots, but sometimes loses himself in a landscape.

Alan has been included in numerous group exhibitions including the annual Shot in the Heat of Melbourne (SITHOM). Alan is also a member of the Australian Association of Street Photographers Incorporated (AASPI).

In his candid photographs, Alan is exploring the relationship between people and place. Alan hopes to evoke emotions, ideas and thought in his viewers. Alan retired at the end of 2015 and is enjoying developing his photographic language whilst living on the Mornington Peninsual in Southern Australia.
