About the Book
Hope for Haiti is, in the purest sense, a labor of hope and of love. The main title of the book needs only three little words to capture the vision described on the pages inside. That vision is for Christians to partner together to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to the Haitian people. Employing stories, analysis, photographs, and art, Hope for Haiti seeks to accomplish two goals. The first is to tell the story of God's work in building his kingdom among the people of Haiti through Pastor Jean Jacob Paul and Souls Winning Ministries, in partnership with Reformation Hope. Thus on the one hand Hope for Haiti is a history of one recent mission partnership laboring in the West Indies. The book's second goal is to guide other potential short-term and long-term missionaries as they prayerfully consider and plan for joining the Great Commission effort among the indomitable people of Haiti. Hope for Haiti invites the reader to walk in the steps of Pastor Paul, engaging the men, women, and children of his land of birth. It also presents the ups and downs, and the joys and disappointments experienced through ten years of ministry, partnerships, and development in the outlying areas northeast of Port-au-Prince and in other areas of the country. Mission successes and sometimes setbacks are recounted so that the lessons learned may be analyzed and explained for the benefit of others who may one day also go to share Christ's love with the people living in what was once known simply as "The Pearl of the Caribbean."
