All photos in this book are digital images, converted from digital color photos by using different levels of channel splitting and contrast, depending on the subject and the raw material.



I don't belong to the guild of photographers who started their career in the darkroom, dodging and burning the night away to come out with that one great shot after a handful of sleepless nights and dozens of wasted prints. Even when I used to exclu-sively shoot film, I always had it developed and processed in a lab - partly for a lack of equipment, partly for a lack of skills, and partly for a lack of patience.



I started with black-and-whites only two years ago, so this is a fairly new experience for me. The longer I have been playing with this, the more it thrills me. While at first glance it may seem that restricting your palette to monochrome limits your photographic options, in reality it opens up entirely new and wonderfully magic spaces.
