    About the Book

    Edit

I'm a home cook, lifelong food lover, and someone who believes some of the best memories are made around the kitchen table.
The Food That Fed My Family started simply: I wanted to put all of our family's favorite recipes in one place for my kids. But somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn't just collecting recipes. I was collecting little pieces of our life together.
The recipes in this book are a mix of old and new—some passed down, some discovered, some created, and plenty changed along the way. They're the things I've made again and again, the dishes my family asks for, and the food that has filled our table through ordinary weeknights, holidays, celebrations, and everything in between.
My philosophy about food is pretty simple: make good food, make too much of it, invite people over, and stay at the table a little longer.
I hope you'll cook from this book, scribble notes in the margins, change things to suit your family, and find a few recipes that eventually become your recipes too.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy making them as much as my family and I have.

    Texas / Washington

I'm a wife, mom, home cook, and food lover. I learned to cook from my mom, an amazing cook who taught me that some of the best memories are made around the table. I've never been professionally trained, but I've catered events for friends and family over the years. I'm fearless in the kitchen. I measure garlic with my heart, rarely make the exact amount of food we need, and always say, “If you can eat it, I can cook it.” I'll try anything once—and if I love it, chances are I'm going home to figure out how to make it myself. After recently trading Washington for Texas, I miss sharing meals with friends and family back home, making preserving these recipes even more meaningful. The Food That Fed My Family began as something I wanted to make for my kids: a place to keep the recipes they grew up with, the food they remember, and a little piece of home they could always take with them. Cooking is how I love people. I hope these recipes become part of your family's story, too.
