About the Book
After enduring childhood abuse and later betrayal, Stephanie searches for safety in distance, hoping she can reclaim a sense of self beyond what has been done to her. An online connection introduces her to Michael—quiet, controlled, and shaped by unresolved grief. The loss of his father alters the course of his inner world, distorting his perception of women and fueling a growing hostility toward his mother that evolves into verbal and psychological abuse. What begins as private resentment hardens into a belief system rooted in control.
Told through a dual psychological lens, the story traces Stephanie’s fragile pursuit of autonomy alongside Michael’s deepening fixation on power, blurring the line between attention and domination. As trust erodes and motives sharpen, silence becomes its own form of danger, and the truth arrives with irreversible consequences.
A tense, literary exploration of vulnerability, manipulation, and the unsettling ways trauma can shape — and distort — the human mind.
