About the Book
A technical challenge over three years in the making, this large work stands among the most beautiful books ever produced in terms of aesthetics and subject matter presented.
This is not a museum catalogue, but rather a book documenting and presenting the beautiful world of a private shrine room.
Exhibited within this book are more than 425 color plates detailing the shrine and its hundreds of art objects.
The title, A Divine Convergence, refers to the merging of two worlds: Dinétah (Navajoland) and Tibet.
Regarding the name of the shrine room, Nizhoni refers to "nizhóní", the Diné (Navajo) word for beautiful, and Budhozho represents the balance and harmony "hózhó" of combining Buddhist and Diné art.
This is a coffee table style book with the focus on visual representation. Knowing that the joy of this style of book is thumbing through the pages and viewing pictures with light reading, brief written explanations accompanying the plates have been included for additional detail.
As a living, exalted sanctuary of serenity, this shrine room, showcased here in this enhanced 5th edition, is intended to bring the reader peace, harmony, wellbeing and joy.
