Yasuke: The Hidden Ronin, is an artistic celebration of Japan’s first black samurai. The rise and fall of Yasuke reflect narratives of nature, the underdog, and unheard peoples of the African Diaspora.

Contemporary fashion designer and artist, Gordon Holliday, creates kimonos from recycled and upcycled materials in forms that he imagined Yasuke would wear if the legend were to live today. This page is to honor and support the emerging artists, rebranded as Legacy Artists, involved with the project, and to support contemporary artists in the Charlotte area and beyond.
