Dray van Beeck. (1961)

Born in the Netherlands where he studied and taught art. He started photographing with the Canon A1 a semi-professional film SLR camera, shooting images on his trips to Nepal, Thailand, India and Egypt. He started scuba diving in 1998 and picked up his first under water digital camera in 2002. The first camera was a Canon Powershot S40 point and shoot succeeded by the Canon Powershot S70. In 2006 he switched to digital SLR; Nikon D80 in an Ikelite housing with 2 DS125 Ikelite strobes and in 2008 upgraded to the Nikon D300 with Hugyfot housing and Inon Z-240 strobes.
After working in Malaysia, the Canary Islands, Thailand, the Philippines and Egypt he works now as a manager, with his wife Karin, for Bali Diving Academy in Pemuteran, Bali. Next to teaching diving and managing he conducts digital photo workshops and an introduction to Adobe Photoshop CS6 He is the founder of www.aqualifephotos.com , a website dedicated to travel, marine life and digital Art.
