About the Book
Part memoir, part entertaining diatribe, this portrait of a life in progress lets the reader into the secret life of Philip Jenkinson, from birth to mid-century and a fraction beyond. As a biography, it's very entertaining... even if you don't know the author personally. But if you are a fan of his writing, or are fortunate enough to know him personally, then it will be even more of an interesting read. As Philip himself attests: "I'm not famous, I'm not especially talented (except maybe having 'the gift of the gab') and I'm not really any less average than the average person. But as the average person doesn't exist anyway, then that makes us all special. So here's my life so far in a small book. I've put it together mainly so that my five year old daughter Cara can read it when she's over 18 (my wife says 40+) to find out what daddy got up to before he met mummy and before she was born. It's for my two wonderful grown up sons Clark and Connor - I am sure they will cringe at some of the photos and some of my recollections from the '70s and '80s in particular. It's also for my friends and family... and it's also for anyone who likes to immerse themselves in the details of a life in progress from a bloke with a minor media profile and only limited results from a Google search." Philip is a name with strong Greek roots and the meaning of the name Philip is ‘a friend of horses’. In fact, the author wrote a song in the early 1980's called ‘All the crazy horses’ about people tearing around in all directions over all terrains, some by themselves, some loaded up with 'baggage', and all of them crazy. There used to be a recording of this particular song somewhere on a cassette tape, from one of his early solo sessions where Philip sang and played some basic keyboard lines. Alas, it is long lost, as are the lyrics - and who knows, that may be a good thing! :) As the author sums up: "I think it’s a very apt title of my life adventure so far and for what is yet to come."
Hi, I'm Philip V Jenkinson. I don't have my own dedicated author website but the good folks at Cool Fiction are awesomely supportive and committed to promoting new writers of contemporary, thriller fiction. They have a lot of information on my books and what I am up to, so please check out the site. My novel 'Natural Causes' was my first into limited release paperback. What would you do if you could afford to keep on adding to your lifespan? What ethical dilemas would you brush aside? What would you do to people who stood in your way? That's the vibe for Natural Causes. My other novel in print is 'Looking for Mr Wrong'... where a bit of a lost soul falls for a wild younger woman with life-changing consequences. Both novels are modern, pacey, edgy, action-packed, and hopefully very entertaining books that I really hope you enjoy. I am currently writing another work of contemporary fiction... 'Alpha and Omega' and I recently published my short story 'All thirteen of us'. Cheers, PVJ
