About the Book
This piece of work is questioning the traditional notions of portraiture. This is explored using obscurity, form and performance. Looking at the relationship between nature and us but developed into a narrative between the relation of forms such as shapes and colour embraced by the models themselves. Influenced by contemporary art and sculpture, as well as neuroscience of creativity, this work has strong conceptual underpinning yet left ambiguous for the viewer to engage with.
The Science of art and creativity states that everyone is creative in some way, but the thing that is stopping us lies within our mind, it is ourselves and our believes. Therefore, this work explores the barrier which is inside our mind, using fragile, translucent and thin materials to show it is easily broken.
The name 'Lamina' is a scientific term for a 'barrier/thin plate'
