About the Book
I spent many hot summer afternoons sitting with the Pakistan Cricket Club in West
Jefferson Park overlooking the Washington monument. More than once, sightseeing buses full of surprised tourists snapped photos of the cricket match as they played just a quarter mile from the Jefferson memorial. Virtually unknown to the rest of D.C., there is a thriving cricket community in the area with over 150 teams made up of mainly Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Caribbean players. As far as anyone I talked to can tell, none of the players are of American descent. However, when I asked how many American players are in the leagues, the response was always “We are all Americans”.
