About the Book
There's nothing more American than a good old "Hot Rod"! I'm sure Henry Ford had no idea that his mass produced, affordable, 'every man's car' would go on to be such an American icon. Although there's no doubt about the '32 Ford being the most sought after Hot Rod of them all, there are still plenty of other examples of this great American art form known as the "automobile". Even as early as the 1920's Americans were customizing the automobile. But it wasn't until the GI's came back from WWII that the "Hot Rod" craze was born. The GI's were given a lot of mechanical training in the service, and the guys fighting in Europe often had to modify or scratch build parts to keep the jeeps running and the bombers flying. When they came back home they put these skills to work on their cars, to make them faster than the guy in the jalopy the next lane over. That love for the automobile has lead to a multi-billion dollar industry today that continues to grow each year. If Henry Ford was alive today, I wonder what he would think about all these Hot Rods?
