About the Book
The images in this portfolio depict Life in the city (Auckland) from morning to night are in abstract and impressionist form and presented as another way of seeing and expressing. These painterly images rely more on soft forms and abstracts rather than on true representation and have been captured using in-camera techniques such as panning, slow shutter speed, intentional camera movements, defocussing and reflections. Such techniques present the illusion of motion, movement and change and simplify scenes to fundamental shapes of colour and light. Impressionist photography is both a technical and expressive art form.
