About the Book
Affectionately known as ‘The Prom’ by its innumerable devotees, Wilsons Promontory National Park is one of the oldest and most popular National Parks in Australia. Its mixture of quartz sand beaches, impossibly blue seas, granite peaks and picturesque islands combine to create a stunning coastline of rare beauty.
Magnificently captured by Travis Easton over the course of many years, ‘The Prom’ photographs the popular spots all those familiar with the promontory know and love, but also explores many of the hidden gems that abound in its less travelled corners.
Since doing my original proofs on blurb, I have now mass produced this book. It sells for $24.95 and is available at www.telp.com.au or at various retailers around Wilson Promontory and Melbourne.
Australia’s rugged landscape is an important part of my life and over many years I have developed the necessary skills and stamina to explore some of the more remote parts of it on foot, ski, kayak and rope. I usually travel alone so I can take my time capturing the essence of these places without distraction. Life slows down and after a while I feel like I begin to merge with the land, nature takes me into her confidence and changes me. Preserving these areas is very close to my heart and if my pictures can instil an appreciation for these environments and their intrinsic worth then all the better.
